Ecoville's Commitment to Sustainability
The Ecoville Effect is a pioneering initiative driven by a vision of a sustainable future. Recognizing the growing environmental impact of plastic waste, Ecoville, a joint venture between the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and STARLITE, aims to revolutionize the building and construction industry by transforming discarded plastic into valuable and sustainable building materials.
India generates a substantial amount of plastic waste annually, posing a significant environmental challenge. With an estimated 32 million metric tons of packaging waste generated each year, representing 12-15% of total Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), the need for effective waste management solutions is critical.
Traditional waste management practices often involve landfilling, which has detrimental environmental consequences. However, a significant portion of this waste, including post-consumer plastic packaging, can be effectively recycled and repurposed. Ecoville leverages this opportunity by transforming discarded plastic into high-quality, eco-friendly building materials.
An initiative by: Starlite Group has been shining bright in the sphere of Real Estate in Kolkata for over 2 decades. The group has established itself as one of the leaders of Group Housing in the Southern fringes of Kolkata and further beyond. Starlite is known for its assured quality and timely delivery. and successfully made a mark in Real estate industry, with that conviction, it plans to expand the vision of Eccoville of sustaining future and the goal of contributing towards creating a healthier planet.
The Ecoville effect
Collecting and Processing Waste
Partnering with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to collect and process plastic waste, diverting it from landfills and ensuring its responsible management.
Manufacturing Sustainable Products
Utilizing advanced recycling technologies to transform collected plastic waste into high-quality building materials, such as recycled plastic lumber, boards, and other construction elements.
Providing Sustainable Alternatives
Offering cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to traditional building materials like wood, concrete, and metal, reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable construction practices.
The Ecoville Manufacturing Process
Ecoville is collaborating with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to effectively collect and divert post-consumer waste from landfills. At our state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility, we employ advanced sorting technologies to meticulously separate plastics, textiles, and other valuable materials, maximizing resource recovery and minimizing environmental impact.
Preparation & Sorting
The process begins with the careful collection and sorting of various types of plastic waste, ensuring that only suitable materials are used.
Processing & Extrusion
Collected plastic is cleaned, shredded, and melted down. High-pressure extrusion transforms the molten plastic into a homogenous and durable material.
Compression
The extruded material is then compressed using high pressure to form the desired shapes, such as boards and lumber.
Formation
The compressed material is further shaped and cooled to achieve the desired dimensions and properties.
